TZY was co-founded in 2001 by Mr. Xing Qilin, the fourth generation inheritor of Li-style Taiji (he is recognized by China and UNESCO as a custodian of a world-class intangible cultural heritage), and Dr. Cui Ailing.  TZY was completed in 2009 with on-going expansions and development.  Located between Beijing and Tianjin, in the ancient city of Yongyang, now Chengguan Town in Wuqing, it is a base for Taiji cultural practice.  TZY was founded with Taiji culture as its core, life science system as its backbone, with fine arts and aesthetics so that it becomes a spiritual space.  TZY integrates education and research practices, wellness cultivation and health training; we engage in the creation and display of the arts such as Tianzhen calligraphy and painting; we grow organic produce upon farmlands within our own grounds.

Tianzhen means the way of heaven and earth, the truth of the universe, and the virtues of nurturing the true nature of man and all things.  In ancient times, it was said: "The sky is south and the earth is north, and the heaven and the earth are in their right places, where the yin and the yang meet, the royal polar comes into existence".  Wuqing Chengguan Town is the "ancient city of Yongyang" with a history of more than 600 years.  Yongyang is distinguished by its people and talents.  The late Mr. Li Ruidong, the grand master of martial arts in the palace of the Qing Dynasty was born here.

 With Taiji culture as the core, morality as the root, literature, martial arts, medicine, agriculture, art, as the carrier, TZY established "Tianzhen International Academy" in 2010, and began co-operations with many domestic and foreign educational institutions to enhance the quality of education. The Academy offers special courses such as tea ceremony, incense ceremony, flower arrangment, calligraphy, etc.; integrating the essences of Eastern and Western culture, we promote both internal and external training, and proficiency in both literature and martial arts.  

TZY holds regular summer camps for young people, four-seasons Taiji health camps, corporate Taiji culture training, as well as Taiji online courses and Taiji specialization courses from junior to senior levels to promote Taiji culture to the world.  TZY has received most positive recognitions and feedbacks from the educators from all over the world.

In 2019, Tianzhen Taiji Cultural Institute was established to carry out the works of Taiji cultural inheritance, research, innovation, dissemination and training.  For the past twenty years, TZY has been committed to the promotion and the popularization and inheritance of Tai Chi culture.  We aim to cultivate talents who are well-trained in both arts and martial arts, who shine with good virtues, and thus possess a healthy mind and body.
